About the University: 
Universidad Autónoma de Chile (UAutónoma) is a private university in Chile, with campuses in Temuco, Talca, and Santiago (Providencia and El Llano Subercaseaux). It was founded in 1989 in the city of Temuco, capital of the Araucanía region of Chile, under the name of Universidad Autónoma del Sur, and was renamed Universidad Autónoma de Chile in 2006. The university had 22 thousand students in 2015. It was ranked among the best 600 universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020. According to QS LatAm University Rankings it ranked 191th-200th among Latin American universities in 2020. The same website reported a total of over 26 thousand FTE students in the same year, over 1,300 FTE teachers (which yields a student-teacher ratio of 18,86) and a high research output relative to the university's size. According to a 2015 accreditation report by the Chilean national accreditation committee, in 2014 the university had 1,675 members of teaching staff, of whom only 494 were full time, and a total of 811 FTE teachers. Out of the total, 180 (10,7%) held a PhD and 797 (47,6%) held a master's degree. According to this report, the FTE ratio was 29 students per teacher.
